The role involves providing specialist knowledge and advice on communications and engagement issues to senior managers working for the Strategic Health Authority (SHA), and other health professionals in the region. Most importantly, it includes championing the voice of patients and the public inside the NHS.
The postholder will plan, manage and evaluate activities – including social marketing and public information campaigns - designed to provide patients and the public with opportunities to give their views on health services in the region.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant communications qualification and significant experience in communications, campaigning or stakeholder engagement, preferably in the public sector. Good all-round communications skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects across organisational boundaries are essential, as is experience of line management.
The role does involve some out-of-hours working.
The purpose of NHS South Central is to improve health and alleviate the causes of poor health for the benefit of patients, the public and taxpayer alike in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
