The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the largest government-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong, with a total student headcount of about 28,090, of which 14,260 are full-time students, 10,050 are part-time students, and 3,780 are mixed-mode students.  It offers programmes at Doctorate, Master’s, Bachelor’s degrees and Higher Diploma levels.  The University has 27 academic departments and units grouped under six faculties, as well as 2 independent schools and 2 independent research institutes.  It has a full-time academic staff strength of around 1,300.  The total consolidated expenditure budget of the University is in excess of HK$4 billion per year.

Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Senior Teaching Fellow in Advertising Art Direction

The appointee will be required to (a) contribute to degree level teaching in the area of Advertising Art Direction; (b) act as student advisor and supervisor to groups as well as individual students; (c) undertake administrative duties in relation to academic affairs; and (d) engage in research and scholarly activities serving the professional industry.

Applicants should have (a) a relevant PhD degree, OR a relevant master’s degree plus at least five years’ art direction experience in advertising.  Applicants who have a relevant first degree and at least ten years’ art direction experience in advertising agencies with significant achievement may also be considered; (b) good knowledge of and skills in Chinese typography; (c) qualities of creativity, initiative and leadership; and (d) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and professional service.

Applicants for the Associate Professor post should have an outstanding level of knowledge of and extensive research experience in related disciplines.  Applicants who do not possess research experiences/record may be considered for the Senior Teaching Fellow post.  Applicants should submit their portfolios including copies of 10 samples of their work in hardcopy, CD or memory stick format with a brief description of the work together with the completed application.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
Salary offered will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Remuneration package will be highly competitive.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
