Web Developer – Cheshire/Greater Manchester – up to £30k

Highly successful e-commerce business, based in Macclesfield, are looking for a strong Web Developer, with a background in .NET, C# or PHP, to join their highly talented team.
Requirements
• JAVASCRIPT – Experience using Javascript for basic animation, form validation and DOM manipulation is required. Experience writing for jQuery and/or Mootools would be great.
• XHTML, HTML – Writing XHTML to a hand-coding standard is an absolute must. For email marketing we’re also after candidates competent in table-based HTML4 for backward compatibility.
• CSS – Experience in coding for all modern browsers as well as offering an adequate experience for IE6 users is required. You must be able to use your head to work with the CSS box model when building layouts.
• XML / WEB SERVICES – Experience working with XML and web services will go far. Whether through server-side technologies or using AJAX.
• SEO techniques /Accessibility – You should be competent at building HTML layouts with SEO and Accessibility in mind. Good, clean semantic markup is always best.
• Graceful degradation of CSS and Javascript – You must be used applying ‘progressive enhancement’ when working with CSS and Javascript to ensure a base level of functionality is available for older or locked down browsers without relying on client-side scripts.
Examples of projects:
1. Adding enhanced functionality to the websites. For example, using Javascript to validate the customer’s username or email address on the fly.
2. Working with a team of designers to build new page layouts whilst using existing CSS frameworks and coding standards.
3. Working with designers to build targeted email campaigns whilst making sure that HTML templates can be reused rather than re-slicing Photoshop documents.
