An exciting and challenging role working across Haymarket's market leading motoring titles, including What Car?, Pistonheads and Autocar.

As SEO Executive you will:

  • Work with in-house content creation teams to optimise their work, as well as create your own content initiatives for the team to work on
  • Define content strategies and deliver insights for traffic growth using keyword research, competitor research and industry specific data
  • Devise and execute effective link-building strategies
  • Blogger outreach – develop relationships with key industry bloggers / communities /associations / forums
  • Build relationships with third parties such as content aggregators and affiliates to extend network reach, and explore new channels for disseminating our content
  • Participate actively in the team’s social media activity, help define the strategy and ensure that it maximises reach and linkbuilding potential
  • Review and optimise existing visible content, including reoptimisation of existing content and promotion of multimedia content
  • Perform SEO audits and create technical recommendation documentation
  • Monitor and report the impact of all activity using various analytics tools


As SEO Executive you will possess:

  • A passion for cars and motoring, and an excellent knowledge of what cars matter most to UK drivers
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role with an agency or in house
  • Demonstrable SEO success in terms of rank/traffic/conversions/roi
  • Demonstrable understanding of SEO best practice and recent algorithm updates
  • Some knowledge of HTML, scripting and server technologies
  • An appreciation of how to plug social media activity into an SEO plan
  • In-depth knowledge of keyword research tools and tactics
  • Experience of outreach management, especially blogger relations
  • Excellent knowledge of Google Analytics
  • A good working knowledge of SEO tools
  • Excellent time management skills – you are able to prioritise, organise a varied and full workload
  • Excellent organisational skills, a methodical approach to your work
  • The ability to present data clearly and persuasively
  • A passion for SEO, and a desire to keep learning and improving your skills
