Trade Marketing Manager
Provide leadership to a team responsible for creating and implementing strategic and tactical marketing plans for all of our distribution channels. This comprises a Channels Marketing Executive.
Create and manage processes to increase effectiveness of team and create efficiencies, improve performance and enable learning and development
Create and implement strategic marketing plans for all our key distribution channels in UK and Northern Europe (of print and ebooks), exploiting market shifts and opportunities to maximize reach and profitability, and minimize channel conflict.
Work with Trade and Education sales teams to create plans for key accounts, setting and evaluating targets for revenues and other KPIs, and developing relationships with key account marketing teams in order to develop co-op campaigns and maximize promotional opportunities.
Report and give insight on sales and by channel and key customer throughout the year as needed.
Create and deliver an exhibitions marketing strategy via 3rd party exhibitions providers
Achieve maximum revenue, customer reach and product exposure through an optimized combination of 3rd party providers.
Work with segment strategic marketing managers and international marketing teams, to create an annual exhibitions schedule, managing this throughout the year.
Ensure that we deliver a consistent and positive brand identity, marketing message and customer experience at exhibitions through managing our stand display, promotional messages and material.
Set and measure sales and marketing objectives for each key meeting.
Create and deliver a promotional strategy and annual plan for VirtualE, with the aim of driving new customer sign-ups, usage and sales through the site.
Oversee the plan for The Preview.
Collaborate with trade sales to create and implement the agenda for our bi-annual sales conference, with the aim of optimizing the delivery of product information, and ensuring that sales groups have clear action plans that align to strategic marketing and channels objectives.
Collaborate with Exhibitions team (Sophie Moyano) to ensure representation at Frankfurt and London International Book Fairs meets the needs of the trade.
Set, own and achieve annual targets (including revenue and sales growth) for distribution channels.
Agree and monitor annual promotional budget for channels marketing.
Regularly analyse and report on marketing activities and, revenues against budget

Required Education and Experience:
Solid experience of developing strategic and tactical plans
Experience of managing marketing channels, working with key accounts and formulating distribution strategies
Good understanding of marketing theory, including the marketing mix and the promotional mix, with extensive experience in implementing all aspects of both
Experience of preparing and maintaining budgets and assessing costs and benefits
Experience of customer segmentation, database management and customer acquisition
Knowledgeable about HS issues and debates, understanding how Elsevier can create value for our customers
Degree in business or marketing desirable
