Forecasting Manager

London£45000 - £55000 per annum

My client is one of the largest market research companies in the world and they are looking for a Forecasting Manager to join the team. The group is vast with offices all over the world and some opportunity to visit clients in Hong Kong and America for the right candidate. The combination of locations and a diverse team is a key strength, enabling them to readily serve clients and interact effectively in different markets around the globe.

They are a truly full-service institute, which regards itself as a supplier of knowledge.

This opportunity would be in their Forecasting team, which comprises a team of analysts carrying out in-depth analysis on sell-out data and triangulating it with external data points to explain and anticipate developments in the technology-device marketplace. They deliver value by providing relevant forecast and analytical support to decision makers. There is high value placed on ingenuity, simplicity and dedication to the achievement of team objectives.

Purpose of Role:
The role provides thought-leadership in predictive analytics. The candidate will work across industry sectors identifying new analytical and modelling approaches that deliver improved forecast accuracy and enable better client decision-making. In addition, the role-holder will identify and secure new data sources, especially near-real-time digital sources, to enhance and expand market forecasts.

In specific instances the role-holder will deliver client-ready conclusions and briefings that demonstrate the company has industry-leading analytical expertise to accompany its expert industry, consumer and client knowledge.

Key Individual Accountabilities
*Build very broad knowledge of the global consumer durables market with special emphasis on the digital device world to support and develop forecasting services.
*Identify analytical approaches that improve forecast accuracy, minimize manual intervention and provide new insights to improve client decision-making.
*Working collaboratively and pro-actively with business owners build the analytical framework that supports our client deliveries and expansion into new markets.
*Strengthen and promote scale advantages by building automated forecasting, quality control, exception-reporting and dashboard delivery into our new forecasting system.
*Actively contribute to the forecasting team's thematic research capabilities and, with the forecasting director, develop the required skills-sets in other team members.
*Contribute to strategic growth by identifying, supporting and at times leading company-wide projects.
*Brief and develop mutually-rewarding relationships and dialogues with industry clients
*Travel as necessary


Requirements

Previous Experience
*Analyzing data and delivering actionable research.
*Building forecasting and analytical models.
*Expert MS Excel, database and analytical skills.
*Comfortable dealing with and drawing meaningful conclusions from large data sets.
*Presentation - should be able to present ideas in a concise and powerful manner
*Project management in a global company.
*Industry expertise desirable but not essential if candidate has a passion to learn.

Skills
*Proficient in a range of forecasting approaches and tools.
*Great networking and consultancy skills.
*Proven exceptional analytical skills and appetite for knowledge.
*Strong oral and written communication skills.
*An ability to convey research to industry clients as clearly and concisely as possible (Analysts need to be able to think on their feet when challenged, and be responsive to their needs).
*Excellent team player
