Smart strategic thinker with a finger on the shopper pulse, needed for this challenging new role in a major multinational food business.  Working across different markets in the European & Australasian region, you will lead the shopper insight requirements - delivering compelling and actionable insights that help generate strategic growth for major retailer customers in key markets.  With a focus on in -store shopper behaviour, shopper missions and channel dynamics and issues, you will ddevelop customer-specific shopper insights across different product categories, advising commercial teams in the markets and helping them to leverage insights with marketing, promotional and product initiatives.

Key responsibilities also include:

• Understanding the impact of emerging channels (on-line, small format, discounter) on mainstream shopping habits and providing leadership in strategy development and local market execution.
• Partnering with local markets to develop channel strategies for lead customers in different markets.
• Leading initiatives that turn shopper data into insight using relevant segmentation frameworks.
• Contributing to the development of shopper insights across the region through coaching and development and by sharing best practice.
• Staying ahead of trends in shopper behaviour and providing leadership to inspire local teams behind these insights.
• Advancing shopper insight through partnerships with international insight teams ensuring innovation in methodology and delivery of advanced insights.

Our Ideal Candidate

With specific shopper insight experience ideally working in a leading FMCG or perhaps retail business, you will have an excellent understanding of shopper research techniques and how relevant ad-hoc and continuous data can be used to drive tactical and strategic decisions.  Your experience may have included consumer/shopper insight, category management, trade marketing or sales/national accounts, but you will almost certainly have worked closely with major retail customers and understand their needs and business priorities.  Accustomed to synthesising data, building and credibly telling a story, you will combine strong strategic thinking skills with hands-on operational skills, responding to issues and bringing teams together to deliver measurable results.  Working with multiple stakeholder within and outside the business including major research agency partners, this is a role for someone with exceptional influencing and communication skills; someone who enjoys a challenge, makes clear, actionable recommendations and secures the buy-in to his/her ideas from colleagues in the UK and local markets in Europe and beyond.
